That's the British flag. English is just white with a red cross. Not to be mistaken for Northern Ireland's flag; white with a red cross. Or Scotland's; blue with a white cross. Or Wales', which was largely ignored during the whole flag deal.

Then there's Ireland's, which looks a bit like a desaturated Italian flag. Or if France's flag was rotated upside-down, and then desaturated.

Rhode island is so miniscule it is commonly used as a reference for Americans to comprehend the area of something else it is being compared to by somebody on TV. Even though nobody can actually tell you how big rhode island is off the top of their head, meaning the comparison is useless and doesn't give anyone a better understanding of what you're talking about in the first place.

Let's ask Wolfram Alpha.

You can fit 4.5 rhode islands in connecticut, or 221.6 in texas.

You can also fit 6.626 rhode islands in wales, or 24.86 in scotland. So... England is bigger than I thought it was!
(I didn't ask it about england because I didn't know whether it would include wales and scotland or not)
