I really like thinking that this dream was something like a form constant, but for the lexical bit of your linguistic system. It's like, this little algorithm fires randomly, and goes like, "Ehty sibtle schmerks were shmickening in vare! Forshoop!" And then the bit of your brain that's showing another bit of your brain a dream at this moment is all like "Hey, I'll go with that, why not." And there you have it.
This is all just me making shit up on too little data, but that's how I like to think about it.
