What exactly is wrong with cultural appropriation?

I mean I guess if they were religious or spiritual or something it would be one thing... But I keep bumping into again and again this weird argument that people should be confined to their culture and that using tools, looks, or ideas from other cultures is "wrong".

I'm not talking about racism, I'm saying that where I live, there's three Chinese resturants, two Thai, and an Indian resturant, if you count tertiary examples, Mcdonalds is one and five Pizza resturants (Italian, I guess.).
Middle eastern resturant, too.
And I live in a Rural area.
