Yep, it's narrow. There are many other reasons (such as just liking the taste), but I'm fairly certain it's the most common one, at least at the bottom of it.

Edit: And very few have only one reason to drink, of course.

Strange that saying please is like that over there ._.
It's quite normal here (ie in the Tagalog language--its like a 'prefix'; "paki-[action word]")

The word "please" is an aspect of politeness, true, but communication has many more nuances. It's pretty common for people to ask in a polite tone, leaving the word unnecessary. That said, it's certainly not uncommon here for people to say "please", either.

I always say please, and because I have children, I have to bite my tongue to prevent myself from patronizingly correcting other adults when they don't. I don't always succeed, and have gotten quite the nasty looks from my friends...
