That's not too far off a description of an actual spider. Just replace breasts with COPIOUS QUANTITIES OF EGGS and you're set.
Okay actually that's a pretty significant difference. I think the comics would, however, be far more interesting if spider-(wo)man's insides were taken up half by reproductive organs and silk spinny bits.

She's hideous, she only has 2 legs! This is not an arachnid woman! I DEMAND OCTOPEDAL CHARACTERS!

Or maybe sexpedal characters + their 2 arms. Do the arms count as legs? Dark Souls says no, but the mental image of 8 legs minus arms is intriguing and terrifying.

Not even joking, full on Feminazi.

I don't exactly get why they did that though.
