I leave for a week and someone gets banned and the Christianity thread, despite being dead for ages, comes back to life while I'm gone. The weird part is that for some reason even though the odds of both of those happening while I'm gone are slim, I'm not surprised.

Also great Scott a lot of people have been banned this year. Still not as bad as 2012, I guess.

Um, what about the FIT, or Female Idiot Theory? I mean, if you look, I'm sure you can find women acting like idiots too. I'm not trying to be feminist or anything, just that the article seems to be rather generalizing. And yes I know statistics and darwin awards, but as a guy, I just feel like that it's being rather generalizing.

... you don't really need to look anywhere but the article to realize that its findings aren't... well, anything. 318 self-selecting examples does not statistical significance make. I mean, seriously, a study of darwin award winners is not exactly high rigor investigation.

No.

And yeah I know beer and tesosterone are a major part of this. I once saw a youtube vid of some guy trying to display being macho by jumping, shirtless into a Cholla (or some similar looking cactus or otherwise spiny desert plant) in what amounts to a display of machoness. The guy did put on goggles to protect his eyes and jumped on it in a way to protect his face, but um yeah, the only reason to do that is to display being macho.

The only reason I'm complaining is that it sounds like the article is generalizing.
