I got tired of Homestuck at about Act 5 Part 2 because of the endless walls of text in a supposed visual medium.  It's a webcomic that simply cannot obey the very, very simple rule of Show, Don't Tell.

? I don't expect it to be a webcomic, just a web thing. Not sure how you can stop enjoying a work based on it not being what you expected it to be? I mean, I guess hype backlash is the term for that, but this just seems to be medium confusion.

nah, if you're reading it with the mindset of, say, a mystery or other such worldbuildy nonsense you end up paying attention too much and getting confused.

It's a comedy first, so not everything has to be significant, and often things are only significant in the sense that they're just running gags.

Sounds like TWoOtA.  Although that game's story actually is ridiculously complex.  Every time I've read Homestuck I've stayed away from the fan-sites and whatnot, so I don't actually know how bad the theorycrafting gets.  All I know is that the Trolls have been showing up at pretty much every convention ever for a couple of years now.

So I was thinking about running a CYOA/Quest after the stresses of this semester are over. I got into planning modo for it tonight and found myself, two hours later, trying to decide whether I wanted to go with a full starmap of a 50ly radius around Sol or just one that listed habitable stars, and what format I wanted for the spreadsheet I was going to use to collate data from further research to determine what sort of system bodies and planetary conditions each might possess.

Just watched the second Hunger Games movie.  Here's something I don't understand...

This is a consistent trend with these stories, and I imagine it's a thing in real life, too.  Specifically in these situations where there is one clear dictator in charge of all the bad shit.  One person acting as a lynchpin.

There are always these secret rebellions with people operating on the inside.  People who are willing to give their lives for the cause of bringing down whatever empire.  Often people with direct access to that one big bad guy.  In the case of this movie, there are several points where people in the rebellion have time alone with Snow, or at least in closer proximity than any protection.  Wouldn't grabbing whatever random object is near and bashing the old guy's head in be a lot more certain and effective than carrying out a bunch of fragile plots and leading a massive rebellion for the sake of the same ultimate goal?  Yeah, you probably won't survive long after the act.  But you were willing to take all kinds of risk and in the end lay down your life anyway, right?  With any conviction (teeth or blunt trauma to throat), you should only need a few seconds to end some pampered elderly guy's life with your bare hands.  Just do it.

It's because Plutarch Heavensbee is a coward.
And Snow is probably watched by unseen bodyguards or something. I mean, this is the guy who assassinated all of his opponents in the book. He's probably cunning enough to not put himself in a position where he could be easily dispatched.
