Still hilarious, eh? Would be even more amusing to set up wizard spell gain so that they could only gain spells by experimenting with potential reagents and gestures. Every time a wizard wanted to learn a spell to fill their spells-known slots, the DM would get to roll the somatic/verbal/material components on their tables, and that'd be what that spell had for the campaign (to prevent metagaming); failing to successfully get the correct combination would force a roll on some sort of mishaps table, with effects ranging from 'nothing' to whatever horribly evil things you can think of, with modifiers for getting part of it right. Wizards are supposed to be the magic-through-study sorts, right?

The base game was in a humble bundle about a month ago, which is where I picked my copy up (though let me tell you, the Enemy Within DLC/Expansion is totally worth the cost of an extra game, especially when combined with something like the Long War mod on top of that.
