Though the thought of a jack-style jump "fight good" is somewhat intriguing. Know folks have statted out jack before, but that's not quite the same thing.

Its funny because almost no one considers themselves a barbarian.  Literally the only reason that character class is called that is because of Conan.

I think Disgaea also has a class called a "Fighter" but in their case they are meant to be generic.

I was messing around in Gnomeregan on WoW with my worgen dude. I left the dungeon and took the elevator up and there happened to be someone playing a freshly-made gnome mage. He said "Hi!!" to me and I just wave back. He started calling me "puppy" and asking if he can ride me. It was at this point I realized I had no clue how to switch to local chat. So I instead shrugged at him and kept walking away. He followed me and was pestering me, but I decided to play along, continuing to only emote at him. Eventually, he got real close to me and said "Look, I'm the perfect height!" Gnomes are crotch-high to worgen. At that point, I just cried and ran away. His little gnomish legs couldn't keep up with me.

It's funny because fighters are terrible.

Say that to Pathfinders' fighters!! Honestly I haven't played fighters enough to tell if they're stronger in PF, but they look to be quite a bit better than D&D's.

PF is slightly better, but they still lack the whole "supernatural powers" thing. That said, so do warblades, but warblades actually have a non-zero sum of usefulness.
