Every single person on my Steam friends list, except for one person, was "last online" 30 minutes ago.

Everyone.

Including the one or two who haven't been on for months.

(That odd-one-out was 6 minutes ago)

... What the hell happened half an hour ago? :I
I was not only offline, I was at work. Steam, you so silly.

WTF, brain?

I was contemplating history the  other day, when I realized something from the WWII Holocaust that is, in hindsight, a horrible, terrible pun.

Okay, so when they were herding Jews into the gas chambers, they would frequently tell them that they were being taken to the showers. Occasionally, they were even given soap and towels. In other words, the Nazis were conducting

A historian with a sick sense of humour? Also, tahujdt, I had a friend in highschool who made WWII-themed puns that were much, much worse than that.

There are a couple of pages of the terrible joke thread that would get us arrested if it was ever published as a book in Germany. Possibly. I actually have no idea what the laws about that kind of thing are like.

I do know that the "Heil Hitler" wave/salute thing is worth an arrest and hefty fine in Austria, not sure about Germany itself though.

Yup. Couple of symboles and gestures are forbidden, as well as denial of the Holocaust. Most jokes are fine, though - I'd wager the two greatest sources of Holocaust jokes on this planet are Israel and Germany.

I'm going to do the smart thing here and disengage. This isn't a hill I paticularly care to die on.

I guess if your goal is to make sure the Holocaust is remembered, then jokes are a good thing.

I think that the best way would be to remember genocides, but not make light of them. There's a difference between remembering and normalizing.

Jokes are how we cope with suffering. Should we gut Monty Python for making light of the worst conflict of all human history? Of course not.

The first thing I sold today was over $50 worth of PS2 games. They're all 75% off. Most of them are marked at $4 or less.
I hope you're not implying that that would be a waste of money.
