I remember that one time he really did come back. Oh, great fun.

Let's see, what other significant events in forum history are there, there was the purging of the pony threads, the original b12 irc and the schism involving it, the trickster mode avatar fad, the 4x cheese spambot, the kitchenbots. Anything else?
Pony as in MLP?

Anyway, this is all beginning to sound suspicously like some eldritch lore.

Yes, mlp. The fanboys and haters got aggressively obnoxious with each other, and a few got banned, and we're not supposed to talk about a children's cartoon anymore because of it.

Yeah. Slightly more detailed version is, there was three strikes you're out setup with the threads successively being closed as they derailed into non forum appropriate material (two out of three times ponies weren't even involved in the objectionable stuff). After the third one there was a ban placed on any further general MLP discussion topics. A separate forum was made by some members as a discussion board for b12 pony fans, but it faded into obscurity.

The Great Purge
The Day That Stole Two Years
The Dichromatic March of Penguins
The Uprising of Sanity's Anathema
The Original Schism
The Storm of Viscera
The Pathos
The Eternally Resurgent Thousand Faceted Avatars
The One Whose Name Brings Forth Aeons of Pain

How is this not some epic mythos?

Damnit, internet. And damn you tax organizations. You are to blame with naming federal unemployment FUTA and making my mind go odd places every time I have to account for FUTA Payable and FUTA Expenses.

On the other hand, I think business would be much more interesting if reality mirrored acronyms in this case. Because nothing makes a business meeting more interesting than a bevy of futa exotic dancers.

Though on the other, other hand, that would be a horrible waste of an expense account. Unless they were also trained economic consultants? I mean, it's not really that far of a stretch, thinking on it... had a cousin that paid for her degree mostly through dancing.

And now I'm wondering. Would the world be better or worse if being able to give a financial report while pole dancing was a high value skill? I'm thinking better, myself.

Poledancing economic consultants is a horrible idea, as good economic sense and paying to watch pole dancing are pretty mutually exclusive.

It was actually worse than that; from what I vaguely recall, it was the breaking of forum guideline 6 that pushed it over the line from a simple thread warning to "don't ever talk about this topic again."

You know what they say. It's only worth what someone will pay. And I'd pay plenty for that kind of financial reporting.

No, no, at that point in the thought process it would be the employees poledancing. As well, anyway. Instead of chairs around a table, there'd be poles.

It actually sorta' fits into the whole health initiative thing going on. They got people on treadmills doing accounting these days and junk. This'd just be a sort of skewed!logical next step. You'd have very healthy executives if they could give reports while twirling a few feet off the ground. Also very competent if they could pull off good management and productive meetings at the same time.
