I've actually heard some not entirely positive things about Autism Speaks.

To my understanding, it's basically a big bunch of idiots who don't have autism and don't know anyone who has autism trying to sell themselves as the authorities on autism.

Personally I find screwing around with people who haven't been born very distasteful. To put it mildly.
On the other hand, if an adult with autism desires to be "cured", fair enough, but I've yet to meet one.
