In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

This time it was the CPU grinding, which I haven't seen before on the forum.  I had a free upgrade to double the RAM, so we'll see if that helps at all.

I'm glad you've downloaded more RAM.

They need to update that website. $100 for a single GB of RAM? Really? It's a tenth that now!

Apparently my grandmother doesn't see me as enough of an adult to knock before barging into my room. :/

... this is why doors come with locks.

And if yours doesn't, let me just speak from personal experience and tell you that doorknobs are both fairly inexpensive and quite easy to install.

Well, I've talked with her, and she's agreed to knock from now on. >_>

I doubt that Vorthon lives outside. Generally bedroom doors are internal.

Wait, where you live interior doors don't generally have locks?

The only internal doors I've ever seen with locks were washroom doors. Even then, that is not a guarantee in some houses.

Hell, I don't even have a doorknob for my room's door.

...no? Bathroom doors often have locks of some description, but who cares about other doors.

All the doors in my house have locks save the kitchen, and that is due to remodeling.

What do you mean there are doors without locks?

I have been lied to all along!

Before my cousins & their parents moved, they didn't even have doors for their bedrooms. Just blankets nailed to the top.

... yeah, pretty much every door in this house, internal or external, has a lock. The ones that didn't, I've mostly swapped the doorknobs out for one that does. After a year or two in a dorm, I sleep better when I can lock the room's door.

Also been fairly standard everywhere else I've been, in this area. Usually, if there's not a lock on the door, it's probably a kid's room. Specifically, a kid the parent (or parents, I guess) doesn't trust with privacy. Master bedroom is almost a guarantee'd lockable door, as are bathrooms.
