I think the French take the cake with their deep fried goose fat.

I just took a look inside the container. It comes with three small containers of some sort of icing, cinnamon, and caramel.

I tried one of the brownies. I think I'm dying.

Caffeine is a horrific poison.
I got dragged out to a Starbucks this morning and pressured to drink coffee, which I know I dislike. I have been feeling awful all day because of it.

For context on that some more, I asked for a regular sized mug, and they didn't have any, so to make up for it they gave me a full large one. I am not one to quit, so I drank it all.

Well that's a bit different. I mean, we do deep-fried pork fat here (cracklings). It gets crispy and intensely salty, and has its uses. But you wouldn't want to eat it on its own (I know...I did once when I was a kid and mistook them for butter twists.)

In the UK we call pork rind crackling. It's so crunchy it echoes around your skull, but it is enjoyable.

Wouldn't deep fried pork fat get the same effect?
I mean, crackling is pretty much just fat that's been cooked and then has hardened again. Deep frying would probably do something similar.

Psst. If you get hauled to Starbucks and forced to order something and you don't want much coffee (you heretic you), ask for a short. It's an unlisted size smaller than tall (duh). It has the same amount of caffeine as tall, though.

Perhaps not as crunchy as skin though, have you had pork rind cooked in the oven?

Yeah, I have. I was under the impression that crackling was just fat. I take it that it's not?

In the UK it's both the skin and some of the fat of the pig.

No, British people just grab pigs and bite into them while they're alive.

And sometimes pigs bite into them. Although they're mostly deceased by that point, unless they seriously pissed off someone.

This just goes to prove that the zombie apocalypse will begin in Britain. If only we had a good way to quarantine the entire island...
