Technically there are also the little-brother bullethells like Raiden and Raiden II (though Raiden III crossed into true bullethell terrortory[sic]). Just the same, except with little jet sprites instead of little little girl sprites. Most of the stuff you can import or *cough* obtain for PC is going to be of the latter sort. Man, I grew up playing on an old Raiden machine at the state park my family went to every year for our reunion, I must've dropped something like $200 worth of quarters on that over the years. Feels.

Oh I though he meant touhou specifically. Whoops. Things that happen when you have so many tabs your tablet slows down.

There's alternatives, like Ikaruga, dodonpachi or Radiant Silvergun to name a few. There's also a bunch of bad ones too. The touhou games tend to be a bit gentler than some of the really hardcore ones from what I've heard, so they might still be a good starting point at the genre anyway. They're worth the music at least.
