Words cannot express how much I want this to be true.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

One big flaw:

We don't use EM impulses. We use ions. Most commonly, K+ and Na+ ions moving into and out of neurons, producing little waves of changing charges (It's more complex, I'm trying to put it imply, since the whole thing needs quite a wall of text).

Basically, no EM radiation or electricity is used. Simply positive ions. Which are sorta the inverse of electricity, since electricity is electrons, which are negative, and positive ions are... positive.

I presume for similar reasons that they teach you a lot of nonsense in high school level physics: It's wrong, but fairly close to being right and a lot simpler.

It is correct that ions moving around is how nerve impulses propagate. How this makes it not electrical is a mystery to me, since it's pretty dependent on the forces generated by the charges on those ions. A lot of the structures involved are even dependent on voltage, and there's definitely measurable electrical activity (hence, EKGs and stuff).

you probably meant this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_channel
but you should also note this

As a side effect of the electrochemical processes used by neurons for signaling,
brain tissue generates electric fields when it is active. When large numbers of
neurons show synchronized activity, the electric fields that they generate can

[70] or magnetoencephalography (MEG).

Oh god, the lack of Physics knowledge, it hurts! All "electricity" is, as in electric current, is simply a flow of charge, be it electrons as used in circuits, or ions in electrolysis or batteries - positive or negative does not matter, as long as charge is moving. People just assume electricity = electrons, as that is what they are familiar with through exposure to distribution systems.
