Had a dream last night where I was with my mother in a dream-version of a house we used to live in, we were rich for some reason and had just returned from a shopping trip or something. I saw this grubby-looking homeless person walking past, looking at the house and I saw fit to scream at them in a rage, "There's nothing for you here!" And to keep [EXPLETIVE] walking, or something like that. I chased them away.
Then a bit later, we were setting something up, perhaps a garage sale or similar, and I was out front on the street again and I saw the homeless woman walking back towards us from the other direction. For some reason this was the last straw, and I charged at them in fury, ready to kill, to spill their blood with my bare hands if necessary.
She ran away in terror, past me, and as I gave chase she ran towards my house.
My rage was quickly replaced by impotent terror as she turned and ran down the path into the house.
I burst in there after her and saw her holding my mother hostage with a knife to her throat. I freaked out, I stopped, I raised my hands as though she held a gun and not a knife, I begged her to let my mother go.
I was helpless to stop her as she began to stab with the knife; I ran forwards and dived at her just as I woke up.
Maybe I shoulda posted this in the terrified thread or something, it did kinda creep me out and wreck my sleep for the night. I mean, rationality quickly returned with wakefulness and I dismissed it as a dream, but still I sent Mum a text message asking what she was up to.
That was the night before I was due to go visit her, too.
I'm guessing that was what prompted the dream. Damnit brain.
