So. Heard about the "normal to wake up for an hour or so thing" so after I woke up a good 3-4 hours after going to sleep, I said, "Okay. Let's chill for a bit, then turn back over and nap, see what happens." So I did. About 3-4 hours after that, I have woken up awake, alert, and with every screaming atom of my being wanting to go back to sleep. I feel like I'm in some kind of quantum consciousness state, both tired and not simultaneously.
If this is what physiologically normal sleep feels like, I'm not sure if want. It's somewhat torturous. With unbroken sleep, at least I have the decency to wake up tired and barely conscious.
You're forgetting that people who do the two-shifts sleep thing used to go to bed around 6-8 o'clock, and only get up when the sun rose. Are you putting aside 12 hours for rest time? If not, then it's not relevant.
Doing anything your body isn't used to will make you feel "wrong", that doesn't mean it's not healthy, or you wouldn't get used to it - but getting used to change takes time.
Smokers feel like crap when they stop smoking. That means not smoking sucks, right, and they should just keep smoking? That doesn't change the fact that once you quit, you'll end up feeling better on average than you did before. The same with people who have unhealthy diets: put them on an all-vegetable diet, and their insides will feel REALLY queasy, at least for a while. That doesn't mean junk food is better for your insides than vegetables.
