In the US, chicken wasn't nearly as popular until beef rations were instated during WW2. Beef became harder to get in great quantities, so people started eating more chicken. People liked it, and demand has been rising steadily since.

Simply put, beef is generally considered tastier, but chicken is more accessible and cheap.

I tend to order burgers as a safe bet when trying a new resteraunt. They're almost always at least edible. If it's good, then the cooks know what they're doing. I'll come back and order something more interesting next time.

Also, if it happens to be excellent, well then the best burgers are freaking amazing and you've found a treasure.


I do not really understand why pizza is so popular though. It's a VERY rare pizza that's more than OK.

Uh... grains (bread), proteins (meat), vegetables (lettuce, onions, pickles, and many others for my burgers, since I use veggie patties), fruit (tomatoes, avocado), dairy (cheese)

...what? You can cook burgers! But unless you're a professional chef, it's might hard to cook better than the professional chefs at good restaurants who make their living off it do...
Burgers and pizza both have the benefit of being easy to cook and make delicious, of course!


Homemade pizza cooked on the grill is just the best though. Half-bake the bread, apply toppings, grill the rest and mmmmmmm...

If you're pizzas are only rarely "more than okay", you need to stop getting them at fast food places or out of vending machines.

and cooking burgers is also cheaper, more tasty, etc.

Burgers have a carb (bread), a meat (burger), toppings of cheese and veggies round things out.

My preferred burger toppings are sauteed onions and mushrooms with a melted thick layer of aged swiss, with tomato on top and spinach greens above the tomato (you have to be careful to keep the spinach greens away from the heat). My condiments for this are typically ranch dressing, and optionally bbq sauce, spicy mustard or a tiny dab of wasabi sauce.

My burger can make you cry for joy (or, you know... wasabi).

If you can make it good or go to a decent restaurant, pizza is amazing. Even chain restaurants like Round Table can be amazing, depending on how good the people working there are.
