People where I live (Portland, Oregon) use ma'am so rarely that I've never actually heard it used in real life in this area. It's also very rare that I hear "sir", if at all.

I use those words frequently. I also use last names and honorifics like ‘Ms.’, ‘Mr.’, and ‘Mrs.’, but I think that confuses people. Maybe they think I am being sarcastic.

I used to say "Sir" and "Ma'am" frequently as a kid in school for some reason. That was until one of my teachers said "Don't call me sir, I work for a living."

At the time that was the most awesome thing I have ever heard from a teacher, ever.

Same issue here, my TF2 inventory is empty and it only shows 2 pieces of coal in my steam inventory.

Hah, that is pretty cool, yes.

I live in Southeast US, where they're big on manners, so I get called sir constantly (and sometimes ma'am, which is weird). Either that or boss, to which I respond "Hey, I'm no ones boss but my own."
