Honestly everyone has a WTF reaction to this game, but I think people are sort of missing the forest through the trees.

Hatoful Boyfriend (the Pideon Dating sim) is... a Satire/Parody of Dating Simulators. The fact that you can entirely replace the typical male cast with Pigeons and lose nothing is sort of the point... and frankly the game is entirely right about how flat and 1-dimensional the cast in those games are.

Or I guess what I mean is... that the game is less "What the?" to me and more... poignant.

Well... it is a legitimately well written game for a dating sim.

There is even art of the humanized versions of all the characters.

This was probably edited on sony vegas, on a virtual windows machine, ran from a linux OS. He was probably drinking a fine shiraz from a margarita glass at the time, and probably smoking some shrooms from a bong. He then woke up, put on some shoes, then socks, and swam to work.
