Yeeeah, they're definitely domesticated and bred for their meat, you just don't get a lot out of them so they're not all that popular.

You can get rabbit... you just have to go to an actual butcher (you might have to order it) rather then a super market.

Then shit got to bad they had to build huge rabbit fences just to keep the crops from getting eaten out of existence.

Also, rabbit meat is kind of meh tbh, at least how I've tasted it. Maybe its because it lacks fat, and fat = taste, as all good people know.

Thats why when the apocalipse comes, the fat people will go first.

Rabbits use to be the mainstay of British meat cuisine until chickens took off. In regards to Australia, they were brought over as food on the colonizing ships and a couple escaped, forming resilient hybrids with the local rabbits which then bred like rabbits and exploded in size

Oh, I have not had rabbit for ages. Goes very well with onion.

Ferrets are useful for rabbit hunting; pop a ferret down the warren, and catch the tenants when they come hopping out the exits. I am not sure they do that these days, though.

EDIT: It appears to be long gone, but there was an amusing picture of a rabbit-related roadside advert, once. Picture two sheets of printed plastic hung up by the road, one over the other.

I have no doubt that a rabbit kit to snack on would be very fresh dog food indeed, as promised, but that would be rather too fresh for my liking.

I got this intriguing picture in my head of that rabbit policewoman from the popular Disney film, sneaking up on a poacher with a butterfly knife. Meanwhile, the ferret is helping himself to the packed lunch.

As a person living in a suburban region of the United States of You Probably Know Which Continent Already, I see rabbits only rarely and have never tasted rabbit meat.

I also have no idea where to go to get rabbit meat, being 1) A bit of a shut-in and 2) Still occupied with high school.

cotton tail bunnies are common most rural and suburban areas of the afore mentioned nation. They are typically considered vermin, or varmints.
Jackrabbit is also endemic, but constrained to natural ranges.

Domesticated rabbits are raised by some as pets, but were originally domesticated as food animals. Likely to cause upset with urbanites if raised for food purposes.

If you really want rabbit meat, it is available by special order in the US.

It might be a bit difficult to find, but there ought to be some well-stocked market hall or something similar in the city. It would be quite expensive, no doubt, so it would be for a special occasion.

Rabbits tend to be discrete, so they are seen a lot less than they see, as it were. They are mostly visible at dawn, from what I have observed. They rather like suburbian areas, or at least the edges of them, towards the woodlands and fields. They seem to like nibbling on half-cut lawns. That would be another way to find them, if so inclined.

The ones on my farm are practically domesticated - you can get within three feet of them before they flee. Probably because none of the family would dream of hurting them, they're all over the place.

Dad even nursed one back to health after hitting it with the car.
