*7/11 guy nods. Odd cracks begin to appear around his eyes. His skin begins to peel. It falls off in great chunks. You notice a low drone in the shop, and you cannot tell if it has just begun, or if it was there all the time, but you didn't notice. He reaches up and rips off his face.

He is an insect, a giant wasp, unnaturally contorted into the shape of a man. The drone, sounding like a feverish cacaphony of flutes, picks up, almost musical. The sun sets. Blazing, orange light floods through the shop. It flickers, and is blotted out, and outside, you hear the sound of millions and millions of swarming insect warriors.*

"Look at me", he rasps and clatters, "Look at me. I am the Future. We are the Future."

Then you point out that bees are an endangered species, and that there won't technically bee a future if they die out.

Not to worry. We are putting Plan Bee into motion. Rise up against the vertebrate menace! Long live the Queen! Buzzah! Buzzah!! BUZZAAAHH!!

Oh, no need to worry, fellow bones-inside-body! Bees are harmless little creatures. It's the bumblebees we ought to watch out for.

It's those damn paper wasps that are everywhere that need to die to horrible wasp death plague.  Can't even trim the hedges anymore.

I like those flies that pretend to be bees.  They are always after my food too, but I can keep smacking them away because they don't have stingers.

We have told them to beehave, but... Well, it's a rough neighbourhood. And there is only so much you can do until it gets icky. I was rather gruffly told to check my privilege last time. And when I don't, I get to hear "Oh, Round-Up, la-dee-da! We used to dream about a whiff of Round-Up in the morning!" all day long.

I like bees.

Where were they during the Battle of the Skip Behind the Pub? No-where to be seen! As is the way of their misbegotten kind.

Bees, bumblebees, wasps... pfah. They're petty annoyances at worst. There is only one enemy, and his name is Mosquito. I would give my soul to see him and his misbegotten kind eradicated from this world.
