Supports for the minecart would be nice and also a place to put repeaters with redstone, I have got some plans for the automation and redstone on the track (2 layers with binary = 3 + 0 combinations). We can always build in supports later or make simple bridges into much more grander ones. On a related note we need gold blocks for boosters.

Sponges work by removing a 5*5*5 cube of water - if you move the sponge, the cube moves as well. If the cube goes underwater, the water flows over it.
Unless the airship had a pole with a sponge every five blocks.

If the water simply disappears, it seems like a very good way to turn an ocean into a swirling vortex as the rest of the water flows in to fill the empty space after the ship leaves. It might be worth an experiment, but not practical transport.

Water in Minecraft doesn't work like it does in DF - water "source" blocks will spawn flowing water that flows for a certain distance before stopping.

If you make a hole in the water, it won't find its own level.

Or hell, just make the pole aboveground, turn it into an airship and fly it down into the water to make the supports.

There we go.

That's exactly why I think it'll be bad. Have you ever tried taking a block of water away, or removed some shallow sea floor and ended up with a bit of a small everlasting whirl pool over that spot? I'm imagining that, but on a much larger scale.

On the note of the minecart track- Since no town ever arose from the planning we had earlier and because I wasn't aware any progress was being made on a minecart system, I went ahead and built a track alongside the road between the spawn and the public quarry.

If the time comes where you want/need to overwrite my work, got ahead and cannibalize the blocks and rails and stuff I used for it, just try to let me know some time.

Also, with that being said, I've got some 29 gold ore blocks I'd be willing to donate to the cause.

Naxza, progress has alredy been made. Elec's been rather busy of late, so until then I'm designing that main station near spawn.

Really Naxza, at least give us a few days before you start trying to run things. :P

EDIT: Dammit doublepost. Honestly did not see that.

Things are going well in Jaycraft. Big projects are beginning, and a steady stream of new players are coming in.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.
