Most batteries would be dead at this point, and I want to use the solar panel to charge them, even if it takes a while.

So, charge the batteries? With the crappy solar panel? When you have a perfectly good generator? And Fuel?

Sure. A) Solar panels don't make immense amounts of noise and exhaust. B) Solar panels don't use fuel. C) We aren't really sure if we can even get more fuel. D) Batteries right now are not a high priority.
