Coolest river I've seen
« on: October 12, 2010, 04:43:48 am »

Its not really anything special, but I found an embark site whilst looking for a volcano+river on flat land and found this pretty strange river that almost seems to defy logic. I can't really think how it could have formed.

Just thought i'd share my little aqueduct find.

Edit: also while im at it, i've never worked with frozen water before but should it be frozen underground? I thought it would stay liquid underground.

Yes, I've had one of those recently as well. The map was also on a freezing biome, like yours seems to be.

Yeah, freezing biomes do weird things to rivers.

Heh. Coolest.

Because it's a river.

Which is funny, because water is cold.

I wonder what would happen if you dug a hole in it

Nothing, unless your map unfreezes during the summer. A truly freezing biome does not necessarily do such a thing though.

If the map unfreezes in summer, you'll get a little flood, which will introduce you to an amazing FPS drop; and then a nice ice covering when it freezes again. You might want to construct a wall into that hole during the winter then so that the map stays playable in the next summer.
