In the frozen land of Nador, they were forced to eat Robin's minstrels...
and there was much rejoicing.


Nobles could demand minstrels. This would force you to make some dwarfs into minstrels. It would also give a reason to make or buy musical instruments. Clicking on minstrels would be like artifacts and engravings and give descriptions of dwarven songs. Minstrels would be useless for other tasks. Nobles could send forth the minstrels to serenade the dwarfs and increase happiness in unhappy times. Of course minstrels could be butchered and eaten in times of famine.

I like the idea of Dwarves using Instruments at parties, music being a skill which can result in happy or unhappy thoughts to those hearing (but not playing) it "Heard a wonderful song lately" vs. "Heard a terrible song lately", and possibly dwarves might have preferences for different types/styles of music ("He likes shell, dog leather and Ballads for their epic storytelling" or "She detests Folk Songs") which would determine what sort of music they play.

It's the one subtitled "Useless jobs to enhance the lives of others" OT: I believe this is an excellent idea, although, rather than being a noble mandated thing, they should randomly wander the fort, perhaps with nobles occasionally demanding their presence.

Yes, you're right. I searched minstrels. I guess I should of searched for singers and entertainers. Body massage did not connect for me. Is there a way to merge threads?
