Leave everything that the dead had with them behind. Do not loot the corpses, their things are cursed. After all, they got eaten by a horrible monster while wearing it.

Become a cold hardened guy who just doesn't care anymore. Give up the hipster style and become a man similar to Smilin' Jack and murder the damned misshapen horrors for vengeance. VENGEANCE!

You look at the boy, squirming about in a crimson puddle of his own blood, clutching the remnants of his face.

"I'm not touching that," you say.

Jack frowns wider than he normally does. "Well fine. Here I thought you were finally gonna prove to be a ma-"

He's cut off as a flash of green streaks through the air. You look around. Jack's standing there, with a hand on his stomach, which is bleeding profusely. Just over the ridge is a tall figure in a black hooded robe. Underneath the hood is a disturbing white mask with asymmetrical eye holes and a twisted smile. The figure is holding a freshly fired crossboy. The hands that hold it are gnarled and black, as though they had been burnt to charcoal and reattached.

The figure speaks, his voice is cold and dead. He is whispering, and yet you can hear him fully well.
"You there.. Boy with the hat.. I have witnessed your combat ability and ability to manipulate, and I am here to offer you a decision.. You may either come with me now and become a servant to the elder god Cynothoglys, the one of whom designed such beautiful creatures as the ghost, or you may be killed now."

"Fuck, boys, I didn't count on a recruiter being here," Jack says, through grit teeth. "Castle, hurry and take my gun. I can't do anything with a hole in my stomach. Shoot it till it don't move no more."

You look around. I guess it's time to make a decision that will effect your interactions with the world for the rest of your life.

Say, "Will I get any COOOOl powers?" If the powers are cool enough we will join him. If not grab Jack's gun and shoot him 'till the sun don't shine. Take jack's gun either way.

Talk to him WHILE getting the gun. Keep him occupied. Ask him a complicated question just before firing and then RATATATA

Seriously, this demon ghost thing was taken down by a couple of kids with switchblades and a bat. Obviously these demons aren't too smart of capable, and this one just has a crossbow. And these aren't green converts!

No, converts probably get crapped on, used up, and tossed.

And these recruiters might be good eating...

Yep, approach while asking what their god represents and the goals and benefits of the organisation. Get the gun on the way. If they don't have something really good on offer, like, say, a position as the god of snarkiness and a personal tailor, then we shoot her, repeatedly, repeatedly.

Ah, well then if we're useing legit ones I want to worship the one who has the decency to take a 'human' form so as not to drive his worshipers compeletely bonkers, I forget his name at the moment though.

Cynothoglys is a Great Old One who is known for having a single bright red arm of death. Getting touched by that arm means you die. As such, you should not let this guy touch you with his arms.

Cynothoglys does not have any goals that we know of. He talks to people in nightmares and is very very very powerful. He is the Mortician God, the one who is the reaper for every living thing, animal, man and god alike.

I recomend we shoot it, repeatedly.

Nyarlathotep?

He manifests as any of a thousand different horrors.
One if which is a human.

Shoot shoot shoot.  Do we really think someone as smart as us will live long among the deamons?  Sure, we might have the life expectancy of a fruit fly with smilin' jack, but we have the life expectancy of a fruit fly in a blender with the deamons.
