Well...sure. Let's improve that then.

At least I'm not the only one who had no idea we had those  :P

You specialize a hive-mind. Sweet!

You improve your DNA stealing cells, increase the intelligence of your brain, and improve the hive-mind.

Fungus 2.2:

Specialized cells:
Body cells: Lean, Grippy
Poison cells: Reproductive Poison
Green cells: Great Chloroplasts (+2.0 food a turn)
Neurons: Great Connections
Chemical Neurons: Okay reactions. Parallel thought.
Sensory nerves: Has tiny hairs that allows you to (barely) hear.
Fat cells: Stores food.
CONTROL CELLS: Okay control. 'Kinda control where they go!' mode only. No way to communicate with infected.
DNA stealing cells: Works most of the time. Can also give other cells DNA, but not in any effective or controlled way.
Trapdoor cells: Helps to hides your leaves, tentacles by pulling them into the host. Mildly effective disguise.

Organs:
Hive-mind: Controls all members of your species. Has no way to communicate besides touch. Not very effective.
Brain: Nice and big, for your size.
Chemical brain: More effective then your regular brain. Parallel thought. Good Chemical memory.
Poison tentacles: Made out of poison cells. Poisons everything they touch. Seriously guys.
Leaves: Made out of green cells. Helps to hold food. (Additional +1.0 food a turn)
Hyphae: Anchors yourself to the seafloor. Very fine, helping you to anchor to the seafloor.
Roots: Further anchors yourself to the seafloor. Supplies nutrients to help survival.
Eyes: Allows you to see better.

Have our current host swim around eating anything it can. Infect what it misses.

Host? We are the hive-mind, we need no host! (We're too big for one!)

Mind you, the only way we can communicate with the other bits of mind-control fungus is through touch. Still, being the hive-mind, this is not a problem. It'll only waste time.

Hive-mind: 1 (You)
Infected fishes: 2

Next time evolve our DNA stealing cells to be able to implant DNA as well.  Attempt to grow our poison cells on the skin of the host.  Start bumping into things to spread our species.

So my crundles are staying intact unless they're newly spawned... until they are exposed to anything that isn't at room temperature.  This mostly seems to mean blood, specifically, their own.  Then they go poof very quickly.

So are we too big because we are too "evolved", or because we are an adult of our species?

Anyway, go into trapdoor mode, and pop out when something comes near.

The trapdoors were only to hide our tentacles, if my dead memory is correct, that is.

You tell your minions to find some more creatures to infect, and then come back when night falls. Within several hours, they come back, with more infected members.

Hive:
Hive-mind: 1 (You)
Infected fishes: 5

So are we too big because we are too "evolved", or because we are an adult of our species?

We're too big because we are the hive-mind. If we were to be placed on any type of host, we'll crush it.

Any type of host, at this time... when we get elephants, if we can remain our current size and weight, we would be able to fit on that... for a while...

Order one infected fish to go infect more fish. Order 2 to remain as guards. Order the final 2 to go hunt so you can finally eat without your leaves again. Also, godplayer fungus-like organism. Called it.

So send off one of your infected fish to infect other fish, two to stand guard, and two to hunt. After all, you must FEED!

Fishy McUseless infects nothing, and your hunters come back with a dead fish for you to eat. Yum. Of course, the infected fishes must feed as well (they can do the highly intense work needed just relying on their leaves), and they end up eatting most of it.

Hive:
Hive-mind: 1 (You)
Infected fishes: 5

Materials:
Food: 0 (Food needed: 5)
