Renewable resources

What is the list of infinitely renewable resources in DF? Food (grown) is obviously infinite as long as you irrigate some land. Then the plump helmets will grow infinitely. Water in caverns and magma in the magma sea also seems to be infinite. Although ore is finite, items can be remelted down to bars (is this also true with adamantine?). But what about the other stuff?

1. Do trees regrow infinitely on the surface?
2. Can fired arrows/bolts be taken back after the creature dies?

Sand
Trees
Grown Crops
Magma
Water
Obsidian
Goblinite

That is all I can think of

Note that when you melt down a metal item, you lose 2/3 of the original metal used, so it really can't be reused indefinitely.

1. Yes they do, AFAIK, unless you destroy all space where they could grow (or maybe already if you cut down all the trees...
could be that they need grown up trees so that saplings can be produced)
2. Some of the bolts fired can be collected and reused, but most bolts will break upon impact

Goblinite? I have never seen that. How does it get renewed?

Well, it gets regularly renewed...
with renewals often coming instead of trading caravans...
but be careful, usually goblinite tries to produce dwarfite in fortresses that are ill prepared

In case it's not clear, Goblinite is the fan term for all the iron crap invading goblins come equipped with, which you melt down for iron.

One of the advantages of using a magma defense is that it burns away all the cloth and leather crap, leaving only the goblinite.

Not only is Blue Metal recyclable, but, if you know what you're doing, you can supposedly get more out than you put in (this does apparently require that you assign Urist McMorden to micro-manage the process though).

But in general, is total material lost when remelting adamantine weapons/armor?

Yes, material is generally lost when melting a metal object.  It is possible to split a stack of bolts into individual bolts using very large archery ranges (long, narrow corridor with channels on the sides and back), then melting the individual bolts.  This does require a lot of micromanaging, and generally isn't worth it unless you're trying to build the entire fortress out of the blue metal.

As far as infinite resources go, the caravans will always have more stuff, it just takes awhile to get a significant amount from them.

Also, obviously, magma avalanches and tsunamis weren't exactly a contingency covered in the mission briefing.
I can assure you that Ardentdikes is not the first fortress to be flooded with magma. What's unusual is that we actually meant to flood it with magma.
