Summer Report, 1055Your Majesty Queen Rigoth Bercog,
Blessings of the stone unto you. A thousand apologies for neglecting the Spring report, but we have simply been so busy here that time did not permit it! I send this report with a human caravan who will most likely be passing through the capital on its way home. Trade fares well at Nightvision, your majesty - caravans from far and wide stop at our humble outpost to sample the finest dwarven crafts, and we have purchased vast quantities of leather and cloth, which will soon become clothes of the finest quality in the skilled hands of our resident tailor, Shorast Ometlogem.
Yet, there are more delights to write of - we have had a wondrous creation made at Nightvision! Though it may sound unassuming, I assure you that all those who have seen it personally will speak only of the perfection of its craftsmanship. Olin Eralrithzam, our mason, has created what he calls Ittas Ker, "The Tenderness of Eyes", a weapon rack that holds swords in place with no hooks or notches - they simply stick to it as if it were made of glue, yet can be removed easily at a moment's notice!
For purposes of record keeping, I would like to inform you that several of our dwarves have taken honour names and titles in recognition of their tireless work in service of Nightvision and the kingdom of Vabok Neth. Please ensure that the Tome of Records carries these names:
"Canalan" Nirmosus, Carpenter
"Dariush" Kellist, "The Warsmith"
"Catten" Althallas, Craftsdwarf
"Derm" Delerasteb, "Soulchopper"
"Tallpanzer" Dodokshigos, Potash Maker
Some of our new arrivals have been acting awfully strangely. Only a scant few days ago, a fish dissector crept into our forge with some iron bars and a pile of horse bones slung under his arms. He has not been seen since, yet the constant sound of filing, hammering and the bellows working tells us he is hard at work. I do not know what to think, but he seems to know what he is doing, so I shall leave him for now.
Within the next few seasons, I will begin polling the populace of our outpost for an idea on how best to raise a fitting tribute to the past
and future glories of Vabok Neth. I do not yet know what form this tribute shall take, but it shall be a masterpiece, a marvel of dwarven engineering, and a legend that will echo in the histories of every nation of this fair world for a thousand years. Heart of Steel, your majesty!
Blessings of the Stone,
Andreus Nishsazir,
Expedition Leader
(in a hurried postscript)Milady,
Truly we are blessed! As I got up from my desk to give this letter to the human merchants, something wondrous had occured! Bomrek Bomrekkakdal has produced a masterpiece!
Yet again, its form may seem inglorious to you, but I cannot assure you enough that the craftsdwarfship of this door surpasses any door I have ever seen in my life! Not that that's saying much, mind you...
Truly we are blessed.
Blessings of the Stone,
Andreus Nishsazir,
Expedition Leader
(So guys, what should my first megaproject be?)
