The Prelude

In 733, Dodok Oarburns, last of the Inethodgub dynasty that began with Amost Citymobs before the dawn of recorded history, died of old age, having tragically outlived her three heirs. Her death left the kingdom of Vabok Neth without a monarch. The House of Raglitast, having the strongest claim to the throne, endorsed its scion Iton Clappedtorches, and neither of the other two Great Houses, Datanrodim and Bercog, could provide a stronger claim against him. He reigned for 67 years, before time slew what goblin could not, interred in the stone upon the turn of the 9th century. He left three heirs, but for reasons that are not recorded by history, neither his eldest daughter and only son took the throne, and thus the task fell upon his youngest daughter, Domas Quakeruns. Long-lived and steadfast, she reigned for nearly a century and a half, but died with neither husband nor heir, and once again the throne of Vabok Neth was left empty. House Datanrodim, outdoing Bercog for ascension, placed Thikut Ironwaded on the throne, and when he died his daughter, Aban Machineswallow, became queen, but alas she died childless.

That was in 1034, only 20 years ago. House Bercog is the only Great House left, and upon queen Rigoth Earthenboots lie the hopes and dreams of the whole of Vabok Neth. But the fortunes of the kingdom are waning - between the Mountainhome of Kolnazom and the two once-great cities of Sulusdegel and Kudustzaneg, the whole of Vabok Neth holds only 181 dwarves. If something drastic does not occur, if something is not done soon, then within two centuries Kolnazom will be empty and the kingdom of Vabok Neth will be but a legend.

Seven dwarves set forth from the Mountainhomes, with but one command - find something that will change the fortunes of our people. Save our kingdom. Save all of us.

Why do most of them not have anything but a +5?
Whatever. If you add +5 mechanics to the carpenter and name him Canalan, I'm in.

Well...
Name the carpenter Canalan and enable all engineering labors on him!
And sign me up for a turn if you be doing that.

How about a husband. The former houses' problems were lack of heirs, after all.

Summer Report, 1054

Your Majesty Queen Rigoth Bercog,

Blessings of the stone unto you. We have arrived at the site you proposed and established an outpost. While it is little to speak of at the moment, I remain confident that we shall prosper here. The river is still frozen and I fear it may remain so for the entire year, but if this is so we shall build our farms upon the earth as the humans do and reap their bounty until we are ready to dig into the bounty of the caves below. Already we have attracted three new migrants who have come from lands far away, following the promise of a renewed Vabok Neth, resplendent with wealth and prosperity:

Ushrir Alathallas, a Craftsdwarf
Urist Kellist, a Weaponsmith
Stukos Uzolostar, a Potash Maker

We have no need for potash, so Stukos has been put to work harvesting herbs and berries in the forest in preparation for running our still. Meanwhile, our stalwart miner Mestthos has uncovered a wealth of minerals in this wonderful place - star sapphires and rubies, my lady - as beautiful as your wondrous self, and far less beautiful but no less valuable, we have found rich deposits of limonite and coal. Forges shall be built and a militia raised. Until we have an armory and enough able-bodied soldiers to turn away an invasion, however, I shall employ our carpenter, Canalan, who has expressed an interest in the matter, to create traps and defensive gates to protect our fortress.

Blessings of the Stone,
Andreus Nishsazir,
Expedition Leader

Your Majesty Queen Rigoth Bercog,

Blessings of the stone unto you. The timely arrival of Vabok Neth's caravan has provided us with the supplies we require to ensure a pleasant and fruitful winter. The snows lie heavy upon our outpost but rumours of our success have somehow reached ears thousands of miles away, and another six dwarves have arrived at our doorstep. I beseech that the kingdom waste no time in entering their names into the Tome of Records:

Edem Adagoslan, Stonecrafter
Tobul Nilmeng, Fishery Worker (we have no need for such a profession here, and so he has been assigned to the brewery)
Tulon Delerasteb, Cheesemaker
Mafol Kuletzafal, Carpenter
Ushrir Oslantogum, Miller
Fikod Monomust, Butcher

Living quarters have been carved from the stone and as the caravan will no doubt have seen, our front gates are complete.

I bid you send as large a supply of meat, mushrooms, fish, wine, ale, rum and beer as you can with the next caravan. We want for nothing else, and I feel our ability to provide our own food and drink is adequate, but the top of the creek remains frozen all year long and few animals roam this far into the taiga, so our fare is not remarkable in its variety.

With my winter report I shall attach sketches of the progression of our outpost.

Blessings of the Stone,
Andreus Nishsazir,
Expedition Leader

Winter Report, 1054

Your Majesty Queen Rigoth Bercog,

Blessings of the stone unto you. News of our fruitful trading must have spread far and wide, for it has attracted the most wondrous rush of migrants moving to Nightvision to seek their fortune! Please bid the tomesmiths add the following residents to the Tome of Records immediately:

Shorast Ometlogem, Clother
Iden Shindoren, Lye Maker
Deduk Thimshurmtuhkat, Miner
Rovod Kirarvabok, Miner
Thikut Alathastel, Bowyer
Uzol Stettadiden, Animal Caretaker
Kikrost Aniluzol, Animal Tainer
Kib Nokgolasen, Trapper
Kumil Enshalineth, Furnace Operator
Vabok Eturlensham, Bone Carver
Bomrek Bomrekkakdal, Fish Dissector
Olin Lokumning, Fish Dissector
Bomrek Ralmonang, Herbalist
Kubuk Mamotkubuk, Soap Maker

We have even been so fortunate as to attract an entire family to Nightvision:

Ral Eraldegel, Woodcrafter
Olin Uzoldallith, Bowyer
Catten Onulgisek, Child

With so many new arrivals, defence of the realm is paramount. I have appointed the command of the first militia squad to "Derm" Delerasteb, who has named it the "Steels of Exiting". Odd name, of course, but I trust her judgement. Our weaponsmith is forging excellent weapons for use against any enemy foolish enough to turn its will against us, and I shall soon bid him study the craft of armoursmithing as well so that they shall fear no goblin blade. We still lack jewelers, though I suspect that they will arrive in the fullness of time.

As promised, m'lady, here are the sketches and population listings:

Spoiler: Apartments Level (click to show/hide)

I'm disappointed with the workload you've giving them. They should be either working, drinking, or sleeping, all the time!
