dwarves not using archery ranges to train

i have my military archer dwarves set to inactive so that they would do some individual training which works fine.

But they never use the archery ranges. actually they wouldnt even do individual training until i assigned a barracks out of a weapons rack even when i had assigned an archery target to their squad.

I tried putting an archery range in the barracks area after that and assigned it to my squad as well but they wont use it.

Ive got the minimum number of dwarves to train at a time set to 1 in the schedule menu and all that. so i dont think thats the issue considering that they arnt in active training anyway.

and im pretty sure they have got ammo set for training and combat as well since theres the C and T under squad ammunition thing in the military menu.

Do the archery range is set to appropriate 'from x to y' side?

I think it starts 'shoot from North to South' or something, and if it's not set properly, they were not train there...

i have it set as shooting from left to right and the archery range is in the middle of the barracks so i dont think there is any issue with pathing or w/e

They can shoot. Sometimes. Rarely. And after few potshots they go back to dreaded (cannot follow orders). Goddamn bugs.

Maybe the problem is overlapping rooms?  Have you tried building an archery range that's not in the middle of the barracks?

yea i have but the dwarves wouldnt even do any individual training at all until i made the barracks out of a weapons rack.

they basically ignored any archery ranges that i have had set up (and i did set their squads to train on these ranges) and sat around idle until i made a barracks with the weapons rack

Goto military and ammo and try changing material to all or the most type of ammo you have.My dwarfs wouldnt use my bolts until i did this.

my ammo type is already set to all.  its not like my dwarves arnt picking up ammo, they just wont use the archery ranges that i have designated.

unless dwarves dont do archery training when on individual combat training?
