So my dwarven leatherworker gets a strange mood, and I'm thinking, "Great, I just finished a leather strange mood! Hopefully this guy will give me something better than that friggin' QUIVER the last guy gave me." The guy trundles off, grabbing some horse leather, marmot leather, red spinel, and marmot bone... and produces Clutchstretched the Sickness of Revering, the Horse Leather Braies. Yes, Braies. I read this, and my first thought was, "What the crap is a braies?"

After a quick search on Dwarfwiki, I find that although there is a page for braies, there is no entry for it. So I check normal wikipedia.

Turns out it is some sort of 13th century men's underwear.

I didn't even know you could make those in this game. Is it even an option anywhere under clothes?

Has anyone else ever seen clothing items or other objects which can't normally be made?

I don't think it was a braies, but I do remember that I once had a leather mood that made something that turned out to be some sort of upper leg garment I think.  I forgot the name, but I wanna say it started with a C.  That was an interesting one.

All kinds of interesting clothing is listed in the uniforms page on the military screen...togas, turbans, chausses, short skirts and thongs among others.  I think the "foreign" tag either means it's produced and worn by non-dwarven civilizations or simply exists as an item of clothing for the purposes of strange moods, preferences, and engravings.

That's correct. Getting an artifact thong was really odd until I learned its real purpose.

I had a Bone Carver make an Artifact Bow, Which as far as i know dwarves can't even use, and since it's an artifact of course it can't be traded so :/

According the wiki, they can use them if they can acquire them & ammo for them, but can't normally produce either.

The Hippies should probably be willing to sell you some ammo.

By "sell" i hope you mean "provide", because i pretty much sit on my hands every year thinking of a new way to kill them.
