Tried installing Elder Kings, but failed :(

First tried it manually, but the world never changed from CK2 to Tamriel.
Then I used the installer and it just fails to start at all.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
Did you revert the ck2 version?

Bought all major DLC but Conclave. Any advice on where to start to get more familiar with them?

Turn them all on, and start playing?

Start as early as possible (Charlemagne), and play as a custom (Ruler Designer) Nomad.  Nomads (Horse Lords) are generally pagan (Old Gods), can become tribes (dunno if DLC needed to play, but effectively all tribals are pagan, thus Old Gods needed), then can become a republic (The Republic) if a duchy with capital on the sea.  Pick a nomad that starts near India (Rajas of India), convert to Islam (Sword of Islam), and finally invade then usurp the Byzantine Empire (Legacy of Rome).  All throughout pick a lifestyle (Way of Life), and if you ride to the West Coast around 1300 AD, then you can throw the Aztec Empire back into the sea (Sunset Invasion).

And there you go.

You forgot the part where he has to become the child of Satan while being a horse.

Horse Lords get a new meaning.

Don't forget to preemptively catch a disease in honor of the next DLC.

Well, I played as Merchant Republic instead. Lost election, ran out of money, all adult males died.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

Why did you run out of money? Merchant republics are usually swimming in it.

On my next playthrough, on succession my republic bugged out and became just republic. Luckily, it got fixed.

What are good mods to look for?  Other than ones that create alternate universes (like Game of Thrones or Elder Scrolls).

If it matters, I have all the DLC's but Horse Lards and Conclave.

I think Horse Butter and Horse Ghee are pretty good.

I use:
- Better Borders
- Florgi's Buildings & Technology Mod
- Internal Peace Law
- Ruler Desginer Unlocked!
- Shattered World
- Your Personal Castle
- Damascus Steel + Ancient Swords
- Historical Bloodline Traits

One of the good things about Paradox's new DLC scheme is that even if a mod makes use of DLC features the mod will require that DLC to run as for example Bethesda games do. Though you will still need the DLC to use the dependant content, of course.

... Isn't that a given? I'm confused.
