You can't buy the Frozen Throne by itself in retail stores anymore (unless the copy has been sitting there for years, which is doubtful). They only ship to stores as the Battlechest. It's not so much of a loss. You can use the extra RoC key to run stealthbot, if you have a clan or something.

My favorite has always been 11th Vampire. <3

having never seen a frozen throne map, I don't know what you mean by creative custom maps. the ones I see are fairly good. but I suppose they are still "close" to the original game in some way.
Everything's relative.
ROC custom maps are nothing compared to TFT custom maps.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

did models get updated, or is it all user created content in the first 2 links?

the first 2 are impressive, even if at the time of posting they were proof of concept rather than maps.
the third I admit i haven't watched enough to see why it was special, unless he was using WASD to move the car ( i saw no mouse).

the last seem to be doable in ROC.

still good maps. I'll buy frozen throne after fixing some problems with prepaid card

Hey, hey, hey... they aren't that evil! I mean, sure, being a corporation makes you inherently evil... and I'm never likely to forgive them for WoW... but they're one of the few developers still focusing on PC gaming, which has to count for something:P

You can't do the fourth in TFT. It's something to do with the triggers and the JASS scripting. TFT gave mapmakers a lot more tools.

Leave discussion about Bobby Kotick to the Bobby Kotick thread, and don't ruin this one, please.

I remember one nice map where one team was Nazgul (only eight of them, because of the player limit of 12) and one team were the Hobbits trying to escape to Bree. Nothing is more intense than when the Nazgul finally find you and chase you across the dark forest as you make a dead run for the victory zone.

All of them are do-able in TFT, but the fact is that you won't see any in online play. Maybe the last one, if any; the proof of concept maps are rarely released to the outside community (probably for fear that they'll be stolen by someone who will make use of it rather than use it in Youtube videos). Either way, FPS's were possible, but they didn't always do well due to the way they had to be coded, and you needed a moderately beefy machine.

Yeah, they're still the same game.
TCP
Any -> 4000
Any -> 6112-6119
Any -> 116
Any -> 118

UDP
Any -> 6112-6119

That's the settings that my router uses to host just fine.

Yeah, TFT game mapmakerfs a lot of tools. 1.22, for example, introduced ability to directly execute assembler code.
It got fixed in 1.24, but yeah.

That's awesome. Did people write maps that wipe out crucial files and stuff?

I loved atmospheric zombie survival games like Night of the dead Aftermath (NOT night of the dead aftermath) and nice TD maps (like GEM tower defence).

There were other interesting maps (some RPGs and risk-like)... So yeah, custom games mostly.

I played one called "founders of the north". It is an extremely good RP based map, in which the players can hunt, fish or farm and eventually found a small village or a town.

Actually, I am very bad at describing things. but I guarantee that it is a good map, with good theme, tech tree/units and great roleplay possibilities.

that is why I asked about hosting. I wanted to host it, but it seem nobody tries to join :(

You have to open port 6112 in your Windows and Router firewall.
