Living Product?
« on: July 27, 2010, 09:27:40 pm »

Simple question.

Is it possible to make a reaction whose product is a living land animal?

For instance, could I smelt a cow?
How about a vermin?

I know you can create a product like:
[PRODUCT:100:1:PET:NONE:NONE:NONE]
Which will create a "tame small animal" but I don't know how to define what sort of animal it creates.

More importantly, I'd like to be able to smelt non-vermin.

Presently, as far as I know. Creatures aka Non-Vermin are a no go. Vermin only sorta, you won't make a real turtle for example. It will be named turtle, but not actually behave light a turtle and will NOT give you a shell.

That sucks.

Out of curiosity, how do you construct the turtle?

For plants or whatever you'd do something like:
[PRODUCT:100:10:PLANT:NO_SUBTYPE:PLANT_MAT:MUSHROOM_HELMET_PLUMP:PLANT]

Doing something like:
[PRODUCT:100:10:PET:NO_SUBTYPE:CREATURE_MAT:LIZARD:CREATURE]
just makes a "small tame creature"  I've got no idea what the subtype could possibly be anyways.

Not like it makes much difference at this point, just curious how it works mechanically.

Where you have "CREATURE_MAT"

you could use VERMIN... I believe you may want to try PET:NONE:VERMIN:TURTLE:CREATURE

The creature ID should go in the material field, if .28 is anything to go by, but I'm unsure as where to go from there.

Any animal is a vermin for a dwarf, they just have the ability to become a good fortification someday.....besides the plump helmet man.

Yeah, you're right.

[PRODUCT:100:1:PET:NO_SUBTYPE:LIZARD:CREATURE]

does it.
