Limit [(1/2) ^ x] as x -> infinity = 0.

So, yes you can. Theoretically.

I think he's trying to argue that infinity isn't real. It is real. Now is it a number? No. It's a concept. So, nothing about saying that halving something repeatedly is wrong, but he'll argue it anyway just to say that he's right.
