Level-5 - of Professor Layton & Dragon Quest 8+9 fame, Studio Ghibli - of some of the most beloved animated movies, and Joe Hisaishi - who did the music to some of their movies such as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke are teaming up. They're making a game for DS and PS3.

The ps3 version is cel shaded and is being done by Studio Ghibli to mimic their own animation style. The gameplay looks like real time pokemon.

The ds version looks as though it will be standard old school RPG fare with stylus drawing to interact with the magic book the main character has.

From wiki:
The player assumes the role of a 13 year-old boy named Oliver, a resident of Hotroit city whose mother Arie dies suddenly.[5] A doll previously given to Oliver by his mother reveals itself to be a male fairy named Shizuku, who gives Oliver a magic book that allows him to go to the world of "Ninokuni," a reality parallel to his own, where the fairy states the boy may be able to revive his mother.[5] There he encounters alternate versions of people he knows.

I'm excited, and I don't even own a ps3. Then again, I grew up on Totoro.

I wish more collaborative efforts from big names like this were done for games.

To be fair the fairy also looks like a pokemon. So unless you're suggesting something far more sinister...

Yay another ps3 exclusive game that looks good! Luckily I only have a xbox so I can save my money!  :D

It was a sinister innuendo.

I'm watching the trailers now. You can probably play it on a DS emulator when it comes out. The cell shading on the PS3 looks awesome tho. If it wasn't for the high framerate and crispy lines, it could pass as a regular animation.

It vaguely reminds me of Tales of Vesperia.

Looks a bit kiddy, but still interesting.
I'll keep an eye on it.

InFamous is pretty terrible TBH... Now ratchet and clank on the other hand :P
