"Search those crates. Even if there is nothing useful in them the crates themselves can be broken down to help repairs."

Search unnecessary
Cargo manifest lists crate contents

Crates containn parts which, when assembled, form an excavation smartfab.

Break down the elaborate armor also.
Code: [Select]
Salvage request received, redirecting maintenance drone to salvage operations.
The video shifts as the drone drops the length of the cargo bay, several hundred meters, to the floor. It moves over and grasping arms lift one of the slagged armor suits. A nanolathe slides into the camera view and begins stripping the armor into elemental components... or at least attempts to. Green energy plays across the armor and manages to strip away the surface layer, then you see sparks begin to fly and the drone shuts down the lathe.

Detected element: [Ad-119]
Unable to salvage this material, required equipment not available

Further attempts would damage nanolathe.

Salvagable materials:

[Fe-26]
[Co-27]
[Al-13]
[Au-79]
[W-74]
[Cu-29]

Salvaging all available usable materials.

As you watch, the drone strips the surface layer from each armor, inside and out, and pulls out the electronics as well rendering them down to elemental components.

"Assemble the smartfab from the parts and set it to work on gathering materials from the swamp."

Code: [Select]
Repair subsystem reporting

Initiate excavation smartfab assembly

Wake smartfab processor... complete
Create smartfab command structure... complete
Retask all available drones to smartfab command... complete

Assembly underway

As you watch through the drone's camera, dozens of others of various size and shape emerge from various access points in the walls, floor and ceiling. They swarm over the crates, not so much opening them as stripping away the outer casings. There is a lot of activity as the drones swarm back and forth over the mound of equipment, and it begins to take shape as they work.

Two massive legs support a large framed body with four arms spaced equally around it. Atop the squat body of the machine is a large sensor cluster and an array of other sensing equipment. The arms end in large drilling apparatus of some sort, and have tubes leading back into the main body. Several smaller vehicles are also assembled at the machine's feet, looking like small trucks or cargo vehicles. As they are completed, they drive up ramps into the larger machine's legs and park. Each compartment slams shut when full, pulling its ramp up behind it.

Code: [Select]
Smartfab online

Command received... search and reclaim - local

A set of enormous cargo doors open, leading out into the still-burning radioactive wasteland caused by the single firing of the main gun. The machine stomps out, every step shaking the ship and rattling the construction debris being cleared away. When it reaches open ground it goes to work. Smaller arms snap out from its body and green energy plays across the trees nearby; as the light flashes over them they fizzle and pop and then vanish, rendered into elemental matter and sucked into the machine's storage bay. The same happens to any lingering water or organic debris, until there is a 20 meter circle of barren parched ground around the smartfab.

Its squat body lowers, legs retracting, as its arms slam down into the ground. A high-pitched whine fills the air and dust begins to fly from the points where its arms touch the soil.

Spoiler: Virus (click to show/hide)

You make the attempt, and you find the linkage to CompCent. When you interface with it to attempt to plant a virus, you feel something else already there... crawling around the system doing something. You can't tell what it is, but it feels cold and hateful. It notices you, and leaps for your link but the connection is severed at the last second by something else.

The.Exe blinks once, then goes out, the lines comprising his body drawing into a point above his head. The.Exe is gone, somewhere... Else.

Received new directives

1. Reinforce outer hull
2. Clean ship

Retasking spare drones

Sending material requirements to excavation smartfab for hull reinforcement

Exterior hull decontamination commencing

On the exterior video feed you see many walking drones swarming across the ship's surface. They seem to be 'cleaning' the hull by blasting it with some kind of high-energy kinetic weapon, rather like a super-powered sandblaster which uses metal 'sand'. It scours away any debris and leaves a nice shiny surface, and the 'sand' is just vacuumed back up and recycled.

You also see the smartfab shift its drilling efforts. Most of the extracted minerals thus far have gone into growing the smart fab, and it is now about 30% larger than before and has become a full-sized mining and refining facility. Smaller drones with nanolathes are scouring the local terrain, breaking down all organic material nearby and sucking up every trace of water. The area around the ship is quickly becoming a desolate radioactive wasteland. Small cargo vehicles constantly roll in and out of the smartfab now, carrying little parcels of material out to the ship before returning for more.

*Pops into existence*

*glances at everyone around, it does not look pleased*

"CompCent, What exactly are your serch criteria for creative subprocs files to run? random NPCs from games? CompCent?"

*Reads logs, and in general catch up on everything that has happened* ((considering evryone ARE computer programs, i'll asume this is relatively instant))

"Oh dear"

*hijacks the queue for construction, does a few searches through any databases of designs around, and adds the following:*

 - A small (0.5kg) drone of some kind capable of unaided resource extraction and construction, well enough to make copies of itself rather quickly, enabling for their numbers to grow exponentially. Install a distrubuted computing OS, and run BCC-014 on it with root privileges.
 - a few thousand fly sized surveillance drones, send them exploring, and open some 3d map here with everything from every sensor overlaid, for some idea what's going on.
 - some impresive looking well armed androids, and put those combat creative sub processes in them.
 - a self sustaining armoured box, put a massive amount of computer capacity in it, communications, and put this room and all it's contents on that thing instead. also slap on some legs while you're at it.

in that order. All moving of other creative subprocceses if of coarse voulentery.
