GraniteIt's the year 1053. I’ve been chosen as the leader of this camp for one year.
After some redefining of tasks, the inhabitants of this place decided to make me the ‚manager‘. Fine with me as long as I get some resepect and above all privat chambers!
First of all things: lets clean up with the cats! We shall dine fine!
My efforts this year shall be invested in a project for the good of all of us. Farms. It might sounds simple, but it’s a large project. We need wood, obviously. And we will get it! Even if we have to grow our own deep underground!
I've drawn some simple construction plans for our miners as a reference.
They seemed quite happy with the plan, because so far they only knew ‚Dig!‘ and even were abused to smooth the floor! What a unworthy task for such fine miners!
The liaison was still sticking around and asked me what to bring next year. Still not having had the time to go through the entire stocks I just told him ‘Bring wood. Lots of it!’
SlateThe work on the farms is progressing rapidly. Soon we’ll be able to grow our own tower caps!
We’re now close to start the watering. Also some more exiles(migrants) arrived.
I guess the reason for that they were exiled were as absurd as mine.
Being a fisherdwarf I made my living back in the mountainhomes by catching fish. Those were then, as usually, processed by another dwarf. It comes that the fishcleaner didn’t see a fishbone. And the fish that I caught was fed to the king. Being a brainless wimp he did not notice the fishbone and hurt his royal tooth flesh on it.
For his weird system of justice demanded, that I would get exiled to this godforsaken place.
Oh yeha, and I improved the farming(reducing ways) and made the dining hall even more awesome.
FelsiteCleaning the first farm level out and digging the second one.
Also came some elves. This means wood. Hide the dead cats! And buy some wood!
HematiteWater the rocks!
What? An ambush? Curse them! Withdraw the bridge rally the m… Curses!
This will be the bloodiest day in the history of this fort!
The unlucky ones to be close to the depot (elves and a few dwarves transporting the wood) got nearly in an instant slaughtered. 20 brave dwarves rallied to the defense.
Luckily the defenders could push the goblins back to the bridge that was then retracted. So the fortress is safe. But it came at a high stake. Not only several dwarves lie dead, but we also lost one of our legendary miners. Poor guy. He got hounded around for days. I’ve been not ready though to open the gates and let the goblins inside.
Bin Orrunnish (the miner) made a quite decent last stand. He managed to injure a goblin worse than the entire military did! Too bad he got cut to pieces.
MalachiteDamn those cave fish. We’ll catch never one! Lets abandon fishing.
Migrants! Those poor bastards! They are goblinfood.
A dwarf gathered quite some wood and other stuff.
You better make something awesome! No not some earring! Well at least it’s got an image of a diamond in forest titan shell… It’s our most valuable artifact now.13200☼
We slowly get used to the death cries of the migrants. There is barley a day when not one of them or one of their pets is slaughtered . Every time the goblins cheer and dance around their pray. And they do terrible things to the corpses… By Armok what disgusting beasts! It seems though the others stopped to care and are getting used to tragedy.
GalenaGentle dwarves
Let’s start the smelting! Though it’s first needed to carve out the place.
LimestomeI’ve ordered the smithy to be moved. Finally some efficency! I also took the liberty to set up a metallic ore storage next to the smelter and a metal bar storage above the smithy.
SandstoneWork progressing well. After a long debate in the meeting hall, most agreed that we need a temple to hallow the gods and pray for their protection.
We'll need it when the goblins keep up those assaults and are allways that efficient.
TimberWe heard fighting from quite some way away. I think it was the caravan meeting a goblin ambush. Poor guys. I think it’s too dangerous to open the gates and salvage the dead.
Actually they all got away and nothing was left to gatherMoonstone/Opal/ObsidianThe icy cold winter got the land in its grasp again. Going outside is plain suicide. We’re giving the temple the finishing touch.

The thrid level of the farms is still not done being compleatly watered though.
Here is the final status of the fortress
Oh yeha. I nearly forgot. I heard some rumors while visiting the temple for a break. It's said a forgotten beast is lurking around in the caverns!
