The front button on my pants broke off. I tried replacing it, but the cheap-ass thread I used broke as soon as I tried putting them on.

I always use carpet thread for buttons.

*Breathes in deeply, and exhales slowly*

Ooooookay.

So, at work, some of my coworkers get Chrismas cards for the other employees. We even have a little basket on the break room table so people can just fill them out to everybody, stuff them in it, and we all know to look through it to see if we have one.
It's rather impersonal, and I like it that way.
I've gotten maybe 4 or so cards from coworkers this way, because they make cards out to everyone they work with (it's rather obvious because they use the exact same type of envelope for everyone. Like I said, it's impersonal)
Normally, I take the ones addressed to me home, look at them, and then set them somewhere and forget about them.
But not yesterday.
Yesterday, there were a couple in the basket labeled to me, so at the end of my shift, I took them home.
When I got home, I handed them to my wife, said they were from my coworkers, and let her open them (I hadn't even opened the envelopes yet. I hadn't seen them, and didn't know who they were even from. I was more concerned with changing out of my work uniform to care)
One of the letters happened to offend her.
Because it was addressed "Love, [name]"
Nothing else was written on it. It was just the words that the card already had printed onto it, and the signature. That's it.
This offended her extremely badly that someone would include that, seeing as how it was from a female (specifically, it was one of the people that made biscuits)
I said "You realize they probably wrote that on every single letter they sent to every single person, right?"
But that wasn't good enough. She felt the need to physically tear the letter to shreds.
Now I don't really care about the letter itself. The destruction of the letter doesn't bother me.
It's the fact that it actually had to go that far over something so incredably stupid and pointless, and to derive pleasure out of ripping up something that someone had put money and time into.
And she couldn't get why this made me upset.

Geeze!

I've got um, no words for ya. Don't think theres anything that can be said from us to help you there. Others might have a better handle on it though than I do.

I wonder if she would have done the same if it said 'love, mom' or some other relative of yours. If you actually WERE having an affair (which you aren't), then yeah I could see that, but most people would probably go 'oh cute' and leave it at that.

jealousy is an irrational and vicious beast. My boyfriend was mega-jealous for a long time, and it even made it hard to have guy friends at all. Or, tbh, go anywhere. He wasn't abusive in any way, he just made me feel like crap for hanging out with any guys. He does this quiet, brooding thing that doesn't require words.

Fortunately, we talked about it and he has eased up a lot, I got tired of being grilled over everything, and him getting mad when I would hang out with guy friends.

I had to really put my foot down though, and he had to, of course, be receptive to my complaint. Put my foot down as in have a serious, but calm discussion on the matter. If he hadn't eased up, I would have parted ways.

I had a guy friend who I would have sleepovers with and he eased up enough that that was okay. (and no I didn't cheat on him with that friend.)

For the record, I was trained from a young age that, if you're going to write a card, you sign it love. Because otherwise why are you writing a card? My Grandmother puts "Love and Godbless" on EVERYTHING. It's just a thing people do.

No, no, it makes sense. If you try to sexorz everyone you write letters to all the time then you'll eventually hit home.

I bet your family dinners are super awkward though, timferius :3

You just need to make sure that the ratio of restraining orders to available sexorz does not approach 1.

Why would I want to go near someone who has refused sexorz?  8)

It's not a constant sexorzing field that is on at all times, it's a check-box for each person. "Would you like to sexorz y/n?" Then you stamp a "Y" or an "N" on their forehead to keep track.

Since we're talking letters you could always just move to Alaska somewhere out of the restraining distance from everyone and the only would you would have to avoid sending letters to is your mailman :D

I think you're thinking of a different kind of 'trying to sexorz'.
