Your first mistake was going to Portland.

I know, right?

Although Portland is OK I guess. Everyone has this "I'm a unique and special snowflake like everyone else" thing going on. One part Etsy, one part Hot Topic, one part Diablo Cody, mix thoroughly and serve over local vegan free-range fair-trade ice cubes. But you can easily consider it cute long enough to learn to ignore it.

But what we all want to know is that are they gluten-free?

I had something snarky written up. But then my phone fucked up and refused to post it, then refused to let me copy it to try again. So that's my RAGE for now.

Worked with this guy, hung out, friended him on Facebook, yadda yadda....dude moves to Portland, and just can. Not. Shut. Up. About. Portland. You know how Canadians always snipe at America's faults, on things like Healthcare and whatever? Imagine that, only they're sniping from your own backyard. Possibly talking about the Gluten-Free, non-fat, ethically-farmed and locally-owned Ice Cream that is so much better than what they used to get "where you live" that they just had, whilst taking a selfie in front of the skyline or a landmark.

It's basically the chic'er, trendier version of like, Fort Collins or Boulder, CO and multiple the self-satisfied douche-baggery by a factor of 2.

And damn it, I can't think of a wittier sub-title for the thread right now other than "Fuck Portland Edition."

"Portlandia edition"

I think the push towards artisinal stuff is good, but not the holier-than-thou attitude that seems to be part of the parcel =/

We have a winner!

And yeah, I agree. I'm ok with the philosophy, just not the smugness.

Two reasons I can't:
1) Wife hates cities.
2) Need to stay near family to take care of them as they get older.
Phantom 3rd reason: Living outside SF in the suburbs risks living near Crazy Bible Bash Town USA, doesn't it? Or are those places further away?
