I need a word for "The act or quality of being bestial". DAMN YOU, PERVERTS! YOU RUIN EVERYTHING.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Give me "degenerate" for 500, Alex.

Depending on the context, just "bestial" might work. o-o?

Feral I suppose gets you the closest, besides bestial.

I need the noun form, specifically. And it also needs to be specifically evocative of animalistic qualities, because it's a subdivision of Savagery dealing with being animal-like, alongside (for instance) Berserkergang, dealing with being always angry, all the time. Bestiality would be exactly it, were it not for the whole "sex with animals" thing. Game design, why do I even.

I'm not exactly opposed to non-English words (as you can tell from Berserkergang), provided they're ones whose meanings are immediately clear and resonant to English-speaking audiences. I don't know any such words, though.

EDIT: I'd go with ferality if that were a word, but apparently no. Why not?

I'm still having trouble. Write a sentence that would have "Beastiality", or rather your preferred word, in it.

I need a word for "The act or quality of being bestial". DAMN YOU, PERVERTS! YOU RUIN EVERYTHING.

Ferocious/Ferocity, Animal/Animality, Wild/Wildness, and Ferine/Ferality describe this concept pretty well. And of course, carefully phrasing the word Bestial in ways that don't end in "-ity" ("Bestial nature," etc.). At least until after you've established the sense in which you mean it.

"Those who practice <WORD> long to return to their natural roots, casting off human frailty for the strength and simple perspective of the wilds."

I can't change the sentence structure to match, mind you, because the word's most important function is to serve as a category name. Maybe I should use Savagery here and come up with a different name for the overall group, but that'll require me to come up with a similarly broad word that evokes primal-stuff.

EDIT: Hmmm... Ferocity. Might be workable here, or as the upper level of organization, letting me shift Savagery down here. A thousand praises for reminding me it exists! Pity ferine has the same problem as feral.

I woke up with a sore leg this morning because my couch doesn't like it when I sleep on my left side. Just as well, said couch still smells like 60-year-old pot smoker and neurotic chihuahua.

Savagery or barbarism would seem to fit the <word> in that blurb the best, t'me.

I'd probably recommend going out and reading through all the Conan stuff. Might be something in there, heh.
