Damn. Well, uh. Good luck?

No one you can scapegoat for it? Or, well, appropriately blame?

Blame it on bad air conditions?
The air force can do that, right? ;D

The mouse for my laptop is dieing. And the touchpad has no scroll wheel equivalent.

Gonna have to wait for next month's check. I have a grand total of 92 cents to my name at the moment.

Have you try swiping about the touchpad edges and corners to see if there is Hidden Scrollwheel function? I've had that happen once, though it only scrolled the page up/down that time.

I've had this laptop for a couple years, and I'm loathe to use the touchpad unless absolutely necessary. Makes my wrists hurt.

HOLY SHIT

This.....this explains a lot of accidental scrolls that have happened over the years. I can't believe I didn't know about this.

I've also seen it be having to stroke with two fingers at a time (up or down, but I imagine there would be one somewhere that does it horizontally just to be different).

Ours go up and down, side to side, pinch in and out to zoom, and if you're in photoshop, you can rotate stuff. They've been like that for a few years now.

... that sounds vile and horrific. Are your people at least merciful enough to either have a very overt option to disable that bullshit and/or have it opt-in rather than default?

Because all that on a laptop touchpad sounds like a recipe to make me throw the laptop through the nearest concrete wall.

No, it sounds like they fit a tablet into the touchpad. :P

In the top left corner of the trackpad, there's an icon (usually a square) or a divot. If you double-tap that, it turns the trackpad completely off.

If you want to turn the gestures off, that's under "Mouse" in control panel, IIRC.

Edit: It's actually under the Synaptics control panel, and all you have to do is right click the icon in the tray at the bottom right and uncheck "Enable Gestures".
