The Six Elements are Oils, Salts, Vegetables, Meats, Yeast, and Temperature

Doctors, I know it is an effective drug for what it's used for, but the fact that lorazepam is on shortage now does not mean you need to prescribe it for every conceivably applicable case. In fact, it means exactly the opposite. At the rate we were going before the shortage was announced, we probably would've gotten through to near the end of the month. At the rate we're going now, we'll be lucky to make it halfway through before we run out. And, because it's in short supply, all we have left are the 1 mL vials that nobody ever wants to use, because each dose is 25 mL. Basically working a shift in the biosafety hood = being one poor bastard, for the rest of the month.

Hmm... My psychologist is about to switch to Lorazepam - Should I take the other offered option instead, since there's two she wants to try and she let me decide which I'd prefer to try first? :P
If it's pills, I don't care even slightly. My complaints are about vials of liquid for injection, and as far as I know there's no shortage of different forms than that. Could be, though? I was just annoyed about having to deliver a controlled substance every hour, and the person working to draw up the doses having to puncture 25 vials to do it (I cannot stress enough how annoying that is), and how this was a major factor in my having to skip lunch that day. >_____________>

My rants are generally oriented toward selfishness, yes.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I just finished successfully implementing a binary heap sort to my pathfinding algorithm.

I would now like to express my feelings about binary heaps, as influenced by this experience.

Blew a tire on the car. Don't really know what caused it, but sure was a loud bang. Now I have to spend the evening swapping it out with one of my summer tires, and then most of tomorrow trying to get a replacement winter tire for the one that exploded.

binary heaps are awesome sauce. Did you also write the tree balancing functionality?

N-ary heaps are somewhat more interesting.

If it makes you feel any better, VD, the cost of living in California is also probably much higher than where you live. He might be getting bigger payouts, but he's probably also paying more out on a daily basis.

Borderlands decided to save over my level 45 (24+ hours) character with a level 21 (7 hours). There's no logical way it could have happened.

The high today is 52 degrees (Fahrenheit, that's about 11 degrees Celsius) local news is treating it like it's the end of the world.

Too low, just telling folks they have to be extra careful, going outside because it is dangerously cold, (it's below 60! OMG!) and just about every news story being about how cold it is.  With only really the orange crop being the one with any real consequences, and even that is pretty much under control.

Oh look it's an orange with an icicle hanging off of it! We're doomed!!!111111one

P.S. Lets ignore the fact that for the very short time it WAS below freezing last night the growers actually encourage ice to form by spraying water on the crops all night so that the ice will insulate the plant.  Seeing ice on the plant just indicates that the growers know what they are doing.  It's not even going to be freezing tonight, the news is getting all worked up about something that's already over and done with.
