Had to start working on the excel part of a program for work, made in c#, and after 4 hours I had found out 3 things: wtf?, WTF!? and that I can't for the life of me get it to actually exit the Excel process after I'm done. And this is nothing more than a simple 'dump table of strings and numbers to the excel file'. not to mention that after capping it uses more time on 1 row than the next slowest uses on dumping 1000 rows  >:(

Also found out my rain jacket is not actually a rain jacket, just plain old jacket...

How the hell do scumbags keep getting elected in this damn country?  >:(

Anyway, let the Wiener jokes commence.

Dunno, is there an actual non-scumbag as an alternative?

Define "this damn country"... The only countries that I can think of that don't elect scumbags all the time are those that elected a scumbag who then decided that further elections were not needed.

There's also countries where only idiots get elected. True fact.

I'm thinking that's the case with Weiner. You have to be an idiot to put a picture of your junk up on Twitter as a House Rep....how many examples of this going badly was he present for? How likely is it you'll be the target of a hack?

In the world of politics and sex scandals, stuff like this is just twice as embarrassing. Not only are you behaving in a manner unbecoming, you're doing it with all the tact and saavy of a 5th grader. Moron. He may not be as scummy as John Edwards, but damn if John Edwards doesn't manage to look slightly classier, cancer wife and political malfeasance included.

I raged a little bit every time more of John Edwards' scandalousness came into view, because I had initially wholeheartedly supported him. I'm glad that we got Obama -- or anyone else, really -- instead of him.

Given the picture, why the hell didn't he just say it wasn't him? From what I'm given to understand, his face wasn't even in it (photoshopped or otherwise), and the bluff would've been easy. And, furthermore, had he gone with that from the beginning, who wouldn't have believed him? To be clear, I'm calling him stupid, not saying that would absolve him or anything. I doubt he'd have come off a looking any worse than he does, and there's a slim chance the whole thing would have died before anyone worked up the courage to come forward about past examples. Categorically refusing to make a statement on whether it was him or not implies guilt, if nothing else.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

If you had read the article, you would know that he originally claimed his account was hacked.

Did he actually just list it as one of the possible ways in which this wasn't his doing? I don't recall him flat out saying he was hacked, he just tried to throw it out there in the hopes the media ran with it.

Yes, and he then refused to claim that the picture wasn't him. That's what I'm talking about. He was asked, point-blank, repeatedly, and always clumsily deflected the question.

I'm suprised he didn't go for the Jedi Mind Trick defense. "These aren't the nuts you're looking for."
Instead it was more of a Chewbacca defense.

"Why on Earth would I send a picture of my junk to half a dozen sexy ladies? That just doesn't make sense. I must have been hacked! Or phished. Or whatever the thing is that happens now. And that is totally not my knob. Unless you think it looks good. In which case, maybe it *is* mine. You can come back to my place later and find out....umm, is that thing recording?"

So i'm walking to my friends house, he is halfway across the city and he lives on a freaking hill.As i'm walking and sweating my ass off since it's insanely hot and cloudy, it starts raining. Now i wouldn't mind getting wet in a real rain that would cool off everything, not one bit.But this was one of those cowardly rains that was there for some two minutes basically making everything slightly wet and the evaporating to increase the humidty and heat, god damned climate.
