I'm 30, and I still say fuck naps. Because I can't take them. 45 minutes to 2 hours becomes 4 to 6 hours of actual sleep. And then your day is really fucked up.

Naps are awesome. The secret is that you can't use them to catch up on lost sleep, because then you just start sleeping normally. You use them to get additional sleep because you love sleeping and eight hours a night isn't nearly enough.

Naps are great right after you drink a cup of coffee, because the two synergize and give you REAL energy instead of powering you through tiredness. The coffee prevents your brain from producing more adenosine (Makes you sleepy), and the nap sort of... Disposes of most of the adenosine still lingering in your brain. So, synergy: Not just a buzzword anymore.

Also, naps and coffee are the buddy cop movie of waking up. The hard-edged, conservative, one-day-from-retirement veteran coffee, and the fresh-faced, reckless rookie nap, cleaning up the streets of... Your brain from the relentlessly suave-and-cultured-yet-still-obviously-evil adenosine.

My experience is you'll get more work done by taking a nap if you need one than trying to power on through and force yourself awake.
