Does anyone else make their stills out of copper blocks or is it just me?
Cause in RL stills are mostly made out of copper.

Never once considered it, but I'm certainly going to from now on.

Nope. My still is made out of hickory. Gives the booze a nice woody flavor.

My stills are made of whatever rock is closest.
My booze tastes like Gabbro/siltstone/granite/microcline/blood!

My booze is ever so slightly demonic: Real dwarves make still with adamantine!

Also: Real dwarves drink molten slade! (A long time ago, there were signs that said, "real men drink chocolate")

I'm considering using cinnabar or another of the "toxic in RL but not in DF" materials - just for giggles. :)

I use pitchblends if I have it. Else I use some deep mushroom like bloodthorn or nether cap.

I use cobaltite, sure it's arsenic ore, but it looks cool.

You can use copper stills, cypress/oak barrels, and make your own stone cellar

Someday I wish to make a fort that looks the way you'd imagine a real dwarven city would look.

Until then, my dwarves can have fun with all the little bits of chalk in their drinks.

If anything, the chalk helps keep their bellies from hurting. Constantly being drunk and eating raw meat and mushrooms can't be good for your system. Perhaps the chalk counteracts all that harmful acid.

Most of mine are made of chalk, limestone, or whatever flux stone is common in my fort.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

I make all my food preparation areas out of pitchblende.
