I doubt anyone will actually do anything towards this and if you do it will probably fail in a pathetic manner, but good luck with it if any of you actually do anything. While this does sound interesting I'm in the UK and most discussion is about the US (or high seas) so even if it does happen I'm not going to be involved.

How about, instead of all the naysaying and blathering about blah blah blah and whatever else you said, you could use your imagination a little and have fun with some friendly people online in a place where there isn't much flaming or hordcore trolling.

All right, fine. Here's my suggestion.

Come over to my place. Live in the basement. Its unfinished, the floor is dirt in some parts, and you may or may not suffer venomous spider bites. But its space I'm not using. Set up rows of computers in the furnace room where there's plenty of heat yet and all go apply for jobs as work-from-home medical transcriptionists. Beds can go in the other room of the basement. Every morning get up, do an hour's worth of typing documents, and then the rest of the day is a free ride. I'll take all your income and use it to pay the gas, food, water and electricity. Anything left over goes into the mortgage. I work as a landlord, you guys type for one more hour a day, and you can live underground in a dwarfy little hellhole indefinately.

I vote New Zealand. Cheap land prices, no one for miles around, occasional free mutton if we can steal sheep. Perfect location.

Also convenient coast lines if we need to trade with the outside world.

... My house overlooks the Ohio River and the largest inland trading waters in the world. Also, rivers don't have storms, which a group of decidedly non-maritime geeks would have difficulty surviving.

Also we have cows. Much more meat per butchering job with cows.

I don't know about the rest of them, but I have about sixteen years experience with watercraft.

Major Downside: We'll be stuck in America and they have laws against stuff.

That is awful.
